How do I take care of my cabinets?
Like all fine furniture, care must be taken to maintain the look and quality of your cabinetry.
Following these guidelines will help your cabinetry looking and working like new for years to come and lengthen the life of your cabinets.
For wood finishes and paints
How to clean your cabinetry
Cabinets can be cleaned with a soft cloth and warm water. Clean section by section and dry thoroughly.
Use vinegar and water to clean glass doors. Please apply to cloth and then to the glass.
What to avoid :
- Do not use a dish cloth to wipe your cabinet exterior, since it may contain remnants of grease and detergents.
- Wipe spills immediately from any coated surface. Moisture is the worst enemy of all wooden materials. Pay special attention to the door and drawer front components in the sink area, which is usually subjected to more water and spills.
- Avoid draping damp or wet dish towels over your cabinet doors. Over time this moisture can cause permanent damage to the door.
- Never use abrasive, powdered cleansers or any products containing bleach – this can destroy the finish.
- Don’t expose your cabinets to extreme temperature changes.
- Be careful with kettles, coffee makers, toasters etc. Unattended appliances can cause damage to your cabinetry.
- All kitchens should be equipped with a range hood to remove steam and contaminants from your kitchen.
- Always ensure your dishes are dry before placing them in your cabinets.

Cabinets can be cleaned with a soft cloth and warm water and dried thoroughly.
What to avoid:
- Never use agents containing acetone, acetate or ethyl alcohol. Harsh solvents and abrasives may break down the bonding of the edge tapes.
- NOTE: Avoid excessive heat and steam. Self cleaning appliances can generate excessive heat escaping during the cleaning cycle. We highly recommend either removing the doors and drawer fronts of your cabinets adjacent to or directly above or pulling your appliance forward during the cleaning cycle.
- A special heat shield is available to help deflect excessive heat from adjacent cabinets.
- Be careful with kettles, coffee makers, toasters etc. These should be pulled forward on the countertop when in use so the steam and heat does not affect the adhesive properties of thermofoil.
Doors and Drawers
From time to time and depending on the amount and type of usage your kitchen receives and the settling of your home, your doors and drawer fronts may require readjustment.
