Preparing for your new Kitchen

While your kitchen is out of use, you should consider a place in your home to set a temporary meal center. Somewhere you can have access to microwave, a toaster, some dishes etc. Preparing or purchasing meals that can be frozen and later micorwaved will also help to reduce the temporary inconvenience.

Preparing your kitchen for cabinetry installation.

Existing Cabinetry

Before your installation can begin, all cabinetry, cabinetry contents and appliances must be removed from an/or relocated to another room. If we are removing your old kitchen, please ensure all contents and appliances have been removed prior to our arrival.

Paint

If you are planning got repaint your kitchen, we recommend doing it prior to installation. It is much easier to do touch ups (as during the installation there may be some minor scratches to the ceilings and walls) than to try to paint around your new cabinetry.

Flooring

Hardwood should be installed before your cabinetry. You may want to install the flooring underneath your cabinet as well. If you ever decide to change the layout, your flooring does not become an obstacle. If hardwood is not installed prior to the cabinetry installation, Mother Hubbard;s Kitchens can quote you on labor and material requires for bringing the cabinetry up to the finish floor level

Tiles Should be installed before your cabinetry, you may want top install the underneath your cabinetry as well. Any future changes will not be restricted by your floor

Floating/laminate Flooring should be installed after your kitchen installation. This type of flooring needs space for movement and should not be installed under your cabinetry.Once flooring is installed after the cabinetry, there may be a gap between the floor and the cabinets. You may purchase 1/4`` round to match your cabinetry to cover that gap. Your should consult with your flooring specialist for him/her to let you know how much will be required.

Toe Kick

If the flooring is not in place before the cabinetry installation is completed, at your choice, we can either install the toe kick, precut it to size for you to install once the flooring is done, or comeback at a later date to complete the installation. in this case, a return trip charge will apply.

Appliances and Sinks

Cut outs for sinks, ovens and ranges can only be performed if your appliances or, cut out templates are on site during the installation process. Please remember to place your appliances outside the work area.

Plumbing and Electrical

All plumbing must be disconnected and capped off as well as any electrical disconnection must be completed- i.e. dishwasher, built in ovens, hood vent, switches to be relocated, etc. before we arrive.

Backsplash

If you are planning to install a tile backsplash or any other type, please advise your designer or installer and provide us with either a sample, piece or a measurement and our installer will be happy to cut the light rails accordingly allowing the proper gap.

During the installation

It is sometimes very compelling to watch the installer at work; however, this may put you in harm`s way should a piece of wood fly off a running saw(as an example). It is for your own safety and protection that we ask you not to stand in the room and watch the installer while he works.

Should a hidden or pre-existing condition be encounter during the installation, the installer will notify the company and the client and make recommendations on the options available. If additional cost apply, you will be notified of the details so you can make an informed decision on how you would like for us to proceed

Once the kitchen is completed, the installer will ask you to do a final inspection. Should any deficiencies be found, the installer will pass the information on to our scheduling department who will arrange a return date with you to finalized the kitchen.

Thank you for purchasing your kitchen at Mother Hubbard`s Kitchens. We know you`ll enjoy your kitchen for many years to come!
